Hopefully you've all
been checking out our MySpace page where Frankie does occasional
updates and masterminds the topical Yob-blog and where MySpace
friends can leave us messages. There are tunes, the history
of the band, plenty of photos and Frank's entertaining and colourful
missives on life, the universe and Street Rock'n'Roll
Check http://www.myspace.com/superyoblondonuk

Remember we also still
have our MySpace site dedicated to championing the cause of
the everyday football fan in the money-centric world of the
beautiful game. It features our still-unreleased anthem 'Sweet
F.A' - pop in and give it a listen.
Go to http://www.myspace.com/superyobsweetfa
for your listen. Remember though, this site is for those interested
enough to join in our protest against the rip-off culture of
British Football.
Feedback has been good,
but please feel free to drop us a line here at Yob Towers to
let us know what you think. If anyone is involved in the sporting
media and thinks there may be an avenue for widening the listening
circle of the song - again, please drop us a line.

We ended the latter
half 2007 on a high gig-wise, with some glorious trips overseas
which finally broke Micky Drummer in.....both behind the drum
kit and in front of the bar would you believe.
We were invited to
play at the newly invigrated Moloko
Bar in Bruges in Belgium in late July supported by Code
1 and although there were a few transport problems courtesy
of Lee Brett's inabiliity to work a petrol pump which lead to
Code 1 headlining, it was business as usual on all fronts in
Bruges......good company, lots of beer, Charlie Rocket's and
a bleary eyed journey home.
--------------------------------------------------
Thanks to Ecke and
all the organisers of Oi! The Meeting at Conne Island in Leipzig
in September. We had a wondeful weekend enjoying splendid German
hospitality in the shape of unlimited beer. Frankie stole the
first night with a solo piano show which had people hanging
from the guy ropes in the after-show party tent, and saw Haystacks
drunkenly break dancing to the Flame Roadshow - before being
generously 'assisted' back to the hotel by Rich and Andy from
Scum - all a bit tired and emotional. Drummer got his first
Yob battle scar by falling face first into a prickly bush after
attempting the world Jagermesiter and Bundaburg cocktail drinking
competition.
The Yob performed on
the second night to a large and enthusiastic audience before
finding the bar where all the free Becks was hiding.
A great event - with
no trouble, a great mix of bands from all over the world and
an excellent atmosphere....we look forward to coming back and
playing again this year.
--------------------------------------------------
The first ever Superyob
shows in The Emerald Isle were booked courtesy of our good mates
Runnin' Riot. We played a show in Belfast at The Front Page
and at the Lower Deck in Dublin in late October. We were truly
gratified to see the amount of good friends who came over to
see the shows and again, we look forward to returning. Thanks
to Colin, Marty, Ralph and Dan for their hospitality and assistance.
Hail the spirit of the Rubber Chicken!!!
This was Sid's final
ever gig for Superyob.....all the best big fella...we hope you
find happiness.
--------------------------------------------------
With Sid's final departure from the band we
had to find ourselves a new bass player. On the recommendation
of Sir Terence Hayes of the EAST END BADOES we have invested
in the 4 string skills of Andy Nicholas.....professional gardener
type chap and an expert on apples. He is badly in need of a
decent haircut and occasionally plays with The Gonads, but even
with those things against him we think he's an all right fellow.
I'll put up a photo once we have one that passes the haircut
censor at Flame Mansions.
Andy's debut gig was with us in Valencia in
December as guests of Pablo and the local barmy army. It was
our second year in a row to be kindly invited to play their
Christmas Party and we had a fine weekend, with a rock solid
debut performance from Andy and a fantastic time being had by
all. Shame the weather was poo, but that didn't stop Andy from
'over-hydrating' on the first night and conking out under the
pool table in the venue where Frank was doing his solo party
show. Drummer was also seen deep in conversation with an inflatable
female guest at the bar during said performance.
Andy's second gig was the Haystacks 40th Birthday
Bash at The Bear and Ragged Staff in Crayford in January. This
also featured The Dog Roses and Strumpet and was a glorious
display - marking Drummer's fist ever gig in his home town in
front of family and friends. A roaring success with a good turnout
from those coming form near and far to enjoy the evening. Even
Sheffield Dave managed to stay awake to finish his curry and
round off the evening by producing a bottle of shampoo to toast
the birthday boy.
Yes ladies and gents, the 4th SUPERYOB
album is finally with us. Nearly 2 years in concept
and construction we finally presented it to thr record
company just in time at the end of February. It has
been released by our good friends Oli and Diana at RANDALE
RECORDS based in the Black Forest area of Southern
Germany. There are 13 songs which encompass the variety
of styles of music which bind the sound of SUPERYOB
together - all delivered in our usual direct and uncompromising
fashion. Some people who've heard it have labelled it
a concept album - well, if a personalised critique of
the melting pot of ingredients which has contributed
to and continues to contribute to the fabric of our
British society is a concept then so be it. We're proud
of it and hope you will be too.
The 12 original songs and 1 cover were
recorded at SHACK
STUDIOS in Essex with the saintly influence of our
good friend Grant Matthews at the controls. The tunes
were penned by the formidable pairing of Flame/McVicar
with Pat assuming the role of Executive Producer. Our
customary cover doffs our cap to the work of The Sweet.
It is available on CD and also on standard
black and coloured vinyl.
Thanks to those who helped contribute
:-
Jim Thompson on fiddle and bazouki.
Jeff and Phil McD for backing vocals. Stodge for his
work in arranging and demo-ing. Degz for his usual work
of genius in translating our ideas into something that
looks as good as it does. And of course Grant....

As part of the release of the new album
we were kindly invited over to Germany to play a release
party at the Randale Records headquarters of Forellenstube
in Shramberg. It also coincided with Oli's birthday
so it was a right old knees up. We shared the bill with
2 cracking bands - our good friends The Veros from France
and the mighty Evil Conduct from Holland. The highlight
of the evening was the 'Yob trying to teach a bunch
of drunken German and Swiss skinheads the 'Okey Cokey'.
Frank has no plans whatsoever to re-record his own version
called the 'Oi!key COi!key'.

I came across these
choice nuggets for your perusal from YouTube. See what you think
of Frankie posing in front of the camera courtesy of the handiwork

This last one was recorded
